GIVING BACK DURING THE HOLIDAYS

SHOES FOR THE SHELTER

On Wednesday, December 14th, Antawn helped provide shoes for the homeless men at the Charlotte Men's Shelter (formerly the Uptown Shelter). Antawn partnered up with Doug Morgan and Morgan's Shoes (of Gastonia, NC) to provide about 335 pair of shoes as holiday presents for the men. Antawn spent over $3,300.00 to provide 100 pair of boots and sneakers.

This is Antawn's 9th year of providing holiday shoes for the Men's Shelter. He started supporting the project in 2002. For the previous 13 years, former Charlotte Hornets owner George Shinn and the team had provided the men at the shelter with new shoes on Christmas Eve. Upon learning that the assistance would end because of the organization’s relocation to New Orleans, Antawn decided to step in and sponsor the program by purchasing all of the shoes.

THE CHRISTMAS EXPLORER'S PROJECT

For the 8th straight year Antawn is sponsoring the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Explorer program that provides Christmas packages for about 650 needy families each year. The packages, which are delivered to the families by the Police, Fire Dept. and various volunteers, contain food, bicycles, gifts and flowers. Antawn donated $5,000.00 this year to help fund the project.
