TAWN CONTINUES TO PAY TRIBUTE TO HIGH SCHOOL WITH ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP

Charlotte, NC - Washington Wizards’ star Antawn Jamison sponsored his sixth annual Antawn C. Jamison Scholarship at Providence High School, his former high school, on Wednesday, May 21.

Jamison began the scholarship program in 2003.  The need-based scholarships are presented to two student athletes (one male and one female) who work hard, excel in the classroom and exhibit great citizenship.  The recipients will receive $1,000 for each year they are enrolled in college for a total of four years.  A committee of Providence High Faculty selects the winners each year.

It was so hard to decide who would get the male scholarship that the committee decided to split it between two deserving male student athletes: Thomas Berlacher and Lamar Bradbury.

The female winner was Bonnie Adams.

The scholarship is part of Jamison’s “A Better Tomorrow” campaign.  Jamison began the campaign to help provide hope for those in his communities, both his current one of Washington DC and in his hometown Charlotte.
