STACKHOUSE/JAMISON/HAYWOOD/HEELS JOIN FORCES AT THANKSGIVING
Chapel Hill, NC - For the fourth straight year Jerry Stackhouse (Dallas Mavericks) and Antawn Jamison (Washington Wizards) joined forces with the UNC Men’s Basketball team to give back at Thanksgiving. This year Brendan Haywood, Jamison’s former UNC teammate and current Washington Wizards’ teammate, joined in as well.
The three NBA stars and former Tar Heels purchased Thanksgiving supplies (14 turkeys, numerous bags of stuffing, cans of cranberry sauce and green beans) for the ESPN/USA Today’s Preseason Third Ranked UNC Men’s basketball team to distribute to the Ronald McDonald House and IFC Homeless Shelter (both of Chapel Hill) on Wednesday, November 10th.
“We’re just trying to set a good example for the current UNC players by providing them with the resources to help those in need,” says Jamison. “This will help them realize the importance of giving back. Maybe in the future some of those guys will be in the same position that we’re in and do the same thing.”

In addition to delivering the Thanksgiving food, the UNC Men's basketball team also gave out posters, signed numerous autographs and took tons of photos with adoring fans at both locations.
UNC Coach Roy Williams, who was present at the program last year, was unable to attend due to a previous engagement. UNC Assistant Coaches Steve Robinson and Jerod Haase were present along with the team.
Jamison and Stackhouse are two of the most generous players in the NBA. Stackhouse has won the NBA’s highest honor for giving back (the monthly Community Assist Award) twice and Jamison has won it as well.
Haywood, who just signed a 5-year contract extension with the Washington Wizards, is a very active participant in team charity activities and looks to do even more in the future.
